Jonathan Idiagbonya Trio
Based in London, the Jonathan Idiagbonya Trio (piano/bass/drums), is a fantastic band for all special occasions. With immense individual musical talent behind the band, their overall sound encompasses both delicate melodies and timbre, and storming passages of technical ability. Jonathan Idiagbonya (piano)
Jonathan began piano lessons at 12. He progressed rapidly and reached grade 8 by 15,
a year later continuing his music studies at the Centre For Young Musicians.
His early exposure to jazz, primarily jazz piano, came during his time at Richmond College.
Jonathan has been gigging regularly in London and the rest of the UK for a number of years at venues
including Pizza Express, Shino's, Pizza on the Park and Spice of Life. Jonathan performs through
his own trio and as part of other configurations. He has performed with such musicians as John
Etheridge, Abram Wilson, Ivo Neame and Rio Roberts. Jonathan will also be performing at this
years Teignmouth Jazz Festival.
Tom Mason (double bass)
Tom began his musical career as a classical violinist, switching to bass in
1998 at the age of 18. In the same year he was accepted to study jazz bass
at the Royal Academy of Music. Since then, he has performed, recorded and
toured in the UK and internationally with an eclectic array of artists including:
Robin Eubanks, Robert Mitchell, Micheal Cain, Marty Ehrlich, Gerard Presencer,
Famadou Don Moye and James Newton to name a few.
Alex Gould (drums)
Educated at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and a drummer since he was 13, Alex also studies
Brazilian Samba and Senegalese Sabar drumming with Barak Schmool, World Music co-ordinator at the
Royal Academy of Music, and is currently a member of The F-IRE arts collective.
He is deeply interested in music from Africa, South America and the Indian sub-continent and has been performing
in and around London for the last four or five years.
